What If We

What If We by Brandon Heath has a truly mixed feel.  I initially bought the album because of Give Me Your Eyes.  After hearing that song, I was surprised to find out it was Brandon Heath.

That song in particular is vastly different than what I had heard from him before.  However, it certainly did not set the tone for the rest of the tracks.  The rest of the songs are more somber than it.

Do not think that I am saying it is bad in anyway, I am just warning you if you are buying the album to hear other songs like it.  It took a few more times of listening to it to get use to the vast contrast in what I thought it was going to be like and how it is.  Once I did that however, it has yet to leave my cd player.

The songs are emotional and real.  There are many Christian artists that sound like they force their lyrics, but these are smooth and run deep.  Even a love song to a woman creeps on there.  I am not sure if he is married or not, but the song certainly puts you in the feet of a man who despite having the potential to be in awe of his surroundings he is brought back to thinking about the woman he loves.

It is beautiful and diverse.  I would highly recommend this album to anyone who likes more of the somber tones and laid back listening.

The End of Reason

A short book by Ravi Zacharias.  With as much hype that surrounds The End of Faith by Sam Harris, you would think it might be bigger.  However, by then end of this quick read one quickly realizes why it is so short.  Ravi’s response to the new atheism all that is needed. Continue Reading…

The God Delusion Debate

I first purchased this debate because I wanted to know how well Richard Dawkins could stand against scrutiny. It is one thing to write a book, it is another to defend it against another well educated opponent. The God Delusion sparked many to believe that science has made God obsolete. Professor Dawkins seems to be leading this crusade, but how well did his claims stand up against the likes of John Lennox? Continue Reading…

Epicenter

If you have ever wondered what is going on in the world around you, if you have wondered about prophecy and the end times, this is the book for you. I picked it up when a friend told me about it. I had no idea what to expect. I was blown away after the very first chapter. Continue Reading…

Expelled: No Intellegence Allowed – Review

This movie is not about the debate between Intelligent Design and Evolution. This movie was about exactly what it should have been about: freedom of speech. The idea that one can have an idea and speak about it without having to live in fear of their job and harassment. There is very little ID evidence presented in this film, but what is presented, I believe, is much more important. Continue Reading…

Expelled: No Intellegence Allowed – Preview

I want to promote this movie because certain networks have decided not to give it any media attention due to it’s “biased” nature (though they didn’t seem to have an issue giving media attention to Fahrenheit 9/11). The movie is ironically about suppression and freedom of speech. “Big Science” has been suppressing and harassing scientists who are not supporters of neo-Darwinism. This is simply a documentary of the suppression, though obviously much more. Continue Reading…

Raised from the Dead

I bought this DVD after watching snippets on YouTube. The story just intrigued me. I had never heard of a story like this in such magnitude. I’ve said before in my review of Don Piper’s “90 Minutes in Heaven” that I believed he truly died for an hour and a half. This story however is only believable by the power of God. Pastor Daniel Ekechukwu of Nigeria died in a car accident. He was pronounced dead on arriving at his doctor’s hospital. He was taken to a mortuary and embalmed and stayed their three days dead as anyone else in the mortuary. Continue Reading…

90 Minutes in Heaven

I’ll be honest, I picked up the book in immediate skepticism. I’ve never been much for believing people’s near death experiences. Don Piper’s story is definitely unique. Oddly enough that gives him credibility in my view. There is so much more to his story than I expected. He’s not a writer and he definitely wasn’t out to make money on his story. Like I said, I’ll be honest, I believe Don Piper stood at the gates of Heaven. Continue Reading…

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

First off let me tell you that I’m a sucker for a good love story, and this novel was so much more than that. Francine Rivers takes the book of Hosea and retells the story making every page come to life. It is not a light hearted read but tells of what true love is and how it can only can come from our Lord and Savior. The book takes you on an emotional journey showing the evilness, the bitterness and hatred in the world and contrasts it to true love. An unconditional, relentless and sacrificial love and what a difference it can make in a life. It conveys even more than that showing us what type of relationships God wishes us to have with Him and with one another. Continue Reading…
